New Era

The New Era Cap Company was founded in 1920 by Ehrhardt Koch, a German immigrant, in Buffalo, where its global headquarters remain today. In 1932, New Era shifted into baseball caps, with the Cleveland Indians becoming their first Major League Baseball client in 1934. In 1954, the 59FIFTY was developed - the perfect baseball cap that takes 22 steps to make - and has been still the official on-field hat for MLB since 1993. In 2012 and 2016, New Era got exclusivity with the NFL and NBA, making New Era the only brand in sports history to have exclusive on-field, sideline and on court headwear rights for all three major U.S. leagues at the same time.
